Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum is passionate about transforming healthcare by training health coaches to help people become CEOs of their own health. She spent nearly five decades making healthcare and education more holistic and innovative. With a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, Sandi specialized in positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mind-body medicine, and served as a teacher and the director of a clinic for Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD). She is a pioneer in her fields, having implemented programs such as the use of neurofeedback with patients and becoming the first-ever psychologist to earn certification through The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).

Dr. Scheinbaum founded the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy in collaboration with The Institute for Functional Medicine. A clinical psychologist for over 35 years, she is an expert in positive psychology and mind-body medicine, and the author of Functional Medicine CoachingStop Panic Attacks in 10 Easy Steps, and How to Give Clients the Skills to Stop Panic Attacks.”

Website bio:

“A self-professed lifelong learner, Dr. Scheinbaum’s life’s work has been centered around education innovation since the very beginning.

She began her career in 1972, teaching students with learning disabilities. Her drive to incorporate a more holistic perspective into her work led her to earn a PhD in clinical psychology at Fielding Graduate University, where she specialized in positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mind-body medicine. Following her passions for cooking and yoga, she pursued additional education in holistic nutrition and became a registered yoga instructor.

Dr. Scheinbaum’s innovative spirit led her to pioneer the use of neurofeedback in her role as director of a clinic for attention deficit disorders. In 2013, she earned recognition as the first psychologist to become an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner. She has taught courses in the psychology of eating and the psychology of wellbeing & mind-body medicine in the Masters Program in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine at the University of Western States. As the director of Feed Your Mind Wellness, LLC, she ran individual, group, and corporate wellness programs.

Dr. Scheinbaum is the author of Functional Medicine Coaching: How to Be Part of the Movement That’s Transforming Healthcare, as well as two books on using the Functional Medicine approach to stopping panic attacks, Stop Panic Attacks in 10 Easy Steps and How to Give Clients the Skills to Stop Panic Attacks.

Founding the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy has brought Dr. Scheinbaum’s career full circle. She has returned to her roots as an educator and is bringing innovative approaches to training students in this new and rapidly-growing field. And in her rewarding role as the leader of this values-driven, heart-centered organization, her drive to learn is as strong as it ever was.

‘I believe that Functional Medicine coaches are uniquely suited to help people take charge of their health. My mission is to transform healthcare, and through the power of coaches working alongside doctors, we can create a culture of wellness. Dr. Kelli Palfy – Male Sexual Abuse; Me(n) Too; Pedophile Profiles; & Caregiver Response

Dr. Kelli Palfy – Male Sexual Abuse; Me(n) Too; Pedophile Profiles; & Caregiver Response

Grateful to have Dr. Kelli Palfy, Registered Psychologist, join me to discuss:

  • male sexual abuse
  • her book ME^N TOO: UNSPOKEN TRUTHS ABOUT MALE SEXUAL ABUSE
  • pedophile profiles and habits
  • caregiver response to disclosure
  • and so much more!

Welcome to The Healing Place Podcast! I am your host, Teri Wellbrock. You can listen in on Pandora, iTunesBlubrrySpotify, Deezer, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, Podbean, and more, or directly on my website at www.teriwellbrock.com/podcasts/. You can also watch our insightful interview on YouTube.

Bio:

“Dr. Kelli Palfy began her professional career working in adult and youth corrections. Here she noticed a disproportionate number of males in the system. After becoming an RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officer, she took an interest in investigating sex crimes and went on to specialize in sex crimes committed against children internationally. Here, as she combed through video evidence, she witnessed first-hand the grooming tactics commonly used by sophisticated pedophiles.

After retiring from the RCMP, Dr. Palfy obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Alberta. She conducted her doctoral research on the reasons why males don’t commonly disclose sexual abuse. She is now a trained trauma therapist and public speaker on the topic of male abuse. Dr. Palfy currently runs a small private practice where she works with male survivors of sexual abuse, first responders and couples using Emotion-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Approach, plus Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Outside of her professional life she enjoys hiking, cycling, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, hanging out with friends and pets.”

Learn more about Kelli and her mission at http://kellipalfy.ca/

Book Description:

Male sexual abuse occurs more commonly among infants, youth and adults than was previously suspected. Despite knowing this, disproportionately few males seek support. Many remain silent, protect their families, and cope through isolating or numbing, themselves, misusing substances and engaging in sexual promiscuity or hypermasculinity.

ME^N TOO: UNSPOKEN TRUTHS ABOUT MALE SEXUAL ABUSE is for male survivors, their supporters and helping professionals. It is an educational, honest, yet heart-wrenching look at the stories of 13 male sexual abuse victims – it is written from their perspective, with the wisdom of retired police officer and psychologist, Dr. Kelli Palfy.

Through their narrative accounts, Dr. Palfy offers:

· Male victims – Healing through recognition of both their positions as victims and the impact of their abuse.

· Parents and teachers – Strategies to identify common yet sophisticated predatory grooming tactics, plus ideas on how to better protect children from abusers.

· First responders and helping professionals – information to better recognize the signs of traumatized people, examples of male abuse explaining when it began, how it was maintained and why the victims remained silent for so long.

For the sake of our boys and men, discussions about male sexual abuse need to increase. Male victims need to feel safe asking for support. ME^N TOO highlights the many unique barriers boys and men face as they contemplate their road to recovery.

Peace to you all!

Bio:

“Samantha is the co-founder of the 16 Strong Project and an adolescent mental well-being advocate. She created the 16 Strong Project in 2017 in response to what she experienced as a young person, living with a mentally ill and addicted parent, struggling to find answers and understand what was happening in her life. It wasn’t until she finished college, and shared her story with many of her friends, that she realized that she was not the only one, and that what happened to her mattered. So many times people do not realize they are not alone or that what they are experiencing has a name. Determined to ensure that the next generation of youth is equipped to handle their adversity, and not suffer in silence, Samantha created a program to empower resilience to adverse childhood experiences, because she believes what happens to all of us matters.

Samantha has an Ed.M. in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University and a B.S.in Financial Economics from Binghamton University. In addition to her work with the 16 Strong Project, Samantha is actively involved with the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s EASEL Lab for social-emotional learning, Harvard’s Making Caring Common Project and Journey into Education and Teaching (JET), a non-profit aiming to increase teacher diversity in Massachusetts.

Samantha is an avid traveler, exercise enthusiast, sports junkie, loves diners, music, reading, ice cream, her cat Boots, and most of all, the New York Mets.”

  • Rev. Dr. Bobby’s mission through Kingdom Life Healing Ministries
  • Inner Healing Prayer
  • stories of prayer and Christ’s healing power in action
  • an abundance prayer as inspired in the moment

Bio:

“Dr. Cabot is a retired United Methodist pastor who believes in the full gospel of Christ for salvation, healing and deliverance. She received her M.A. Biblical Studies and M. Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary and her Doctorate in Formational Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary.

She was called by God into healing ministry 30 years ago, devoting herself to conscientiously study under the prominent healing theologians of our time. Over the last decades of learning, observation and experience, she has discovered the impact of facilitating Inner Healing Prayer, a healing paradigm also known as “healing of emotions” or “healing of memories”. The Inner Healing Prayer is a unique ministry that only Christ can do, where the human facilitator is just that – the one who helps the person receiving prayer come into the presence of Christ for His divine touch.

Since retiring as a United Methodist pastor, Dr. Cabot travels the US and beyond to preach and teach about healing and deliverance through informational weekend conferences, experiential workshops and facilitator training academies for her non-profit, Kingdom Life Healing Ministries.

She believes in the healing power of the risen Christ as revealed through Holy Scriptures, church tradition and her own experience. Her passion is to bring others to personal healing through Christ to glorify God and equip disciples.”
